The Friends of Two Rivers Snowfest was founded in 2018 with the goal of bringing back Snowfest to Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
To understand the passion and drive that has lead this group to take on the challenge of reviving a part of Two Rivers history that has been dormant for nearly 20 years, you need to understand a little bit of the history of Snowfest first.
The origins of Snowfest date back to 1937. In July of that year a group of city workers were digging for a public works project when they turned over a shovel full of dirt to reveal a four foot mound of snow……in the middle of summer!!!!
The resident of the city and local civic organizations felt this was a reason to celebrate, who could argue with them? Thus Snowfest was born!!! Since that time the city has taken the time to celebrate this history. For many it represented a time to celebrate. In fact for many years a Snow Queen was crowned. Below is Snow Queen Lorraine Luebke in a photo submitted by Pearl Koch
It was also was time to celebrate with bands, parades, and carnivals. Often times children even participated in the parades, and dreamed of being future Snow Queens

Snowfest was a popular memory for many of the residents of Two Rivers during the 1960’s through the 1990’s when various groups including the Lions, Optimist, Kiwanis, and finally the Jaycees helps to make the festival a reality. Unfortunately due a number of different factors, like other things in the past, Snowfest faded into a memory.
The Friends of Two Rivers Snowfest wants to start making some new memories! We need your help!
